Imagine a World...
“Imagine” by John Lennon. Imagine a world where people live “for today.” No possessions, no hunger, greed, and even no heaven or hell. John asks those listening to think about what the world would be like if this was the case.
The story John tells and the musicality of this song come together to create a masterpiece. The first time I really listened to this song was actually in my 7th grade choir concert, the advanced choir sang it and despite it being a junior high school choir concert, I loved it. Again what really stuck out to me was the lyrics. They bring feelings of longing and hope. For every person the kind of world they imagine is going to be different. For example the phrase “Imagine no possessions,” it is going to be very different for someone living in poverty versus a millionaire. Both could feel a sense of relief, or the millionaire could feel a sense of loss whereas someone living in poverty could feel hope. This song makes me imagine what kind of world I want to live in and encourages others to do the same. And honestly I believe that for us to grow we need to have adversity, that’s hard to say because there are so many genuinely difficult and horrible things in this world that I would never wish on anyone. That’s why each person's interpretation of this song will be so unique, no one person will “imagine” the same thing.
Hey! I really liked reading your blog post, this song is so good, and how could it not be the message in it and the fact that it is john Lennon. I especially liked your ending about the everyone's interpretation of the song is unique because no person will imagine the same thing. I thought that was such a cool thought that goes with the song. nice job!
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren! I really like that song. It's a very powerful music, whether in the lyric or in the voice of John Lennon. I really like the way you explain your point of view. I like what you said at the end of your paragraph. I totally agree with you! It's a really special song that made me sad about what's happen in the world. Good job!
