Introducing Myself

Hi I'm Lauren! I love late night car rides, I love rolling down the windows, and turning up the music a little louder than I probably should. If I'm the DJ you know I'm turning on Christian French or Journey. When I'm not doing that you'll find me hammocking, longboarding, hiking, or playing volleyball. My friends would describe me as sassy and competitive, which I agree wholeheartedly. I'm always down for something new, especially new music, so I'm excited for what the semester has to offer!

       “Imagine” by John Lennon. Imagine a world where people live “for today.” No possessions, no hunger, greed, and even no heaven or hell. John asks those listening to think about what the world would be like if this was the case.        The story John tells and the musicality of this song come together to create a masterpiece. The first time I really listened to this song was actually in my 7th grade choir concert, the advanced choir sang it and despite it being a junior high school choir concert, I loved it. Just as long as you Stand By Me

  The music from the 60s and 70s is truly iconic. It was genuinely hard for me to pick which song I wanted to do. “Stand by me” by Ben E. King is one of those iconic songs that I have just always known, I have no idea where I first heard it. I love this song for multiple reasons, not only does it have a great and relaxed beat, but the story it tells is so sweet, it’s a very feel good song. I actually think the original meaning behind the song is him singing to his “darling” and saying everything will be okay if she is there for him. But what I love is that whether we are in a relationship, have a love interest, or not, we can still relate to this song in some way. I personally think of my older sister. She is always there for me and I’m always there for her. Whenever he says “just as long as you stand by me” I think of times that I felt alone or overwhelmed, and I remember how my sister was always just a call away. I'm "In The Mood" for some quality music

  Despite what the title says, I am more in the mood for some ice cream right now. And before I get to the music I would like to formally apologize for the cheesy title.  "In The Mood" by Glenn Miller While writing about a song, I normally like imagining where I’d be while listening to each song. But this one was a bit harder for me. I first thought of a restaurant and listening to it as background music. But that didn’t fit, so I thought about a dance hall, which also felt weird. I ended up in a big auditorium, on the balcony, looking out at a big band with an enthusiastic director waving his arms around, with a big smile on his face, just happy to be there. A key thing I want to point out with this song is it's repetitiveness. It plays one part, comes to a complete stop, which always gets me cause I always think the song is over; then goes into the same thing again.
