I'm Still Yours

 So, from what I’m seeing, we do not cover Journey in this class. I know, it’s heartbreaking, but that’s why I have to do one of their greatest hits for this week's blog. No, I’m not gonna do “Don’t Stop Believing,” not because I don’t like it (because I absolutely love it). I want to shed light on another one of my favorites, “Faithfully.” I just want to start by pointing out how sweet this song is, it seems like every song nowadays is about sex, cheating on someone, or being cheated on. But this song is about loving that one person wholly, he says “I’m forever yours, faithfully,” the story of this song just gives me chills. He also says “two strangers learn to fall in love again, I get the joy of rediscovering you,” the hopeless romantic inside of me is literally screaming, it just feels so pure and so sweet. I love Journey’s unique sound and stories. This song has very extravagant music. Lots of drums and a big crescendo into each chorus. The lead singer also has an amazing voice. I struggle with many bands because the lead singer actually kinda sucks but the music hides that. In this case his voice really compliments the band, especially in this song. There’s no way of me putting it into words, but if you’ve heard “Faithfully,” then I hope you know what I’m talking about. And if you haven’t heard it and you are interested in classic rock, I 10/10 recommend this song.

    So when I first read your blog I was not 100 percent sure what song this was but when I listened to it I recognized it. I think what you said about todays music is so so true so I appreciate when I find a good song like this one. I really liked this song and your blog to go along with it.

Just as long as you Stand By Me

  The music from the 60s and 70s is truly iconic. It was genuinely hard for me to pick which song I wanted to do. “Stand by me” by Ben E. King is one of those iconic songs that I have just always known, I have no idea where I first heard it. I love this song for multiple reasons, not only does it have a great and relaxed beat, but the story it tells is so sweet, it’s a very feel good song. I actually think the original meaning behind the song is him singing to his “darling” and saying everything will be okay if she is there for him. But what I love is that whether we are in a relationship, have a love interest, or not, we can still relate to this song in some way. I personally think of my older sister. She is always there for me and I’m always there for her. Whenever he says “just as long as you stand by me” I think of times that I felt alone or overwhelmed, and I remember how my sister was always just a call away. I'm "In The Mood" for some quality music

  Despite what the title says, I am more in the mood for some ice cream right now. And before I get to the music I would like to formally apologize for the cheesy title.  "In The Mood" by Glenn Miller While writing about a song, I normally like imagining where I’d be while listening to each song. But this one was a bit harder for me. I first thought of a restaurant and listening to it as background music. But that didn’t fit, so I thought about a dance hall, which also felt weird. I ended up in a big auditorium, on the balcony, looking out at a big band with an enthusiastic director waving his arms around, with a big smile on his face, just happy to be there. A key thing I want to point out with this song is it's repetitiveness. It plays one part, comes to a complete stop, which always gets me cause I always think the song is over; then goes into the same thing again.
